March Madness 2022 predictions: College basketball expert picks, odds, lines for Saturday's Elite Eight games

With the elimination of three of the four No. 1 seeds in the Sweet 16, several double-digit seeds dancing in the Elite Eight, and frequent upsets that most likely broke your support leaving it in shambles, the NCAA tournament 2022 has been wild. This March Madness drama has a chance to continue on Saturday as the Elite Eight kicks off, kicking off the first of a two-day forum that will almost certainly invite more mayhem ahead of next week’s Final Four.

The weekend kickoff is perhaps the best game of the Elite Eight as the No. 2 seed Villanova and the No. 5 seed Houston face off for the right to claim the South Regional. The lowest-seeded Cougars are the favorites (by a bit) in the eyes of bettors who are coming off a convincing victory over No. 1 seed Arizona on Thursday, but they attract a Wildcats team that wins by an average margin of almost 13 points in the tournament.

Saturday’s finale features another giant killer in No. 4 seed Arkansas, who sent No. 1 seed Gonzaga home in the Sweet 16 after leading for most of the second half. -time in one of the most impressive outings of any team in this year’s tournament. . The Razorbacks lure No. 2 seed Duke and retired coach Mike Krzyzewski with a Final Four spot on the line. After surviving a scare against No. 3 seed Texas Tech, the Blue Devils are a slight favorite to advance to the next round.

Be sure to stick with CBS Sports throughout the month for NCAA Tournament coverage through the end of the Final Four. Let’s take a look at our expert picks for Saturday’s Elite Eight matches.

NCAA Tournament: Elite Eight picks for Saturday

(2) Villanova vs. (5) Houston

Saturday, 6:09 p.m. | TBS, March Madness Live: On Friday morning, Houston has the second-best chance to win the NCAA championship after dispatching — fairly easily, I might add — No. 12 seed UAB, No. 4 seed Illinois and No. No. 1 Arizona to open the tournament. But Villanova’s run was equally impressive with three convincing wins topped by a Sweet 16 victory over a Michigan team that had the personnel to give the Wildcats adjustments but couldn’t capitalize. I trust their experience and their ability to play and win in different ways, so in a close game I’ll just take the points with Nova. Pick: Villanova +2

HOU -2

(2) Duke vs. (4) Arkansas

Saturday, 8:49 p.m. | TBS, March Madness Live: Arkansas handled No. 1 seed Gonzaga in the Sweet 16, outclassing the Zags with his physique and athleticism. And though it is almost certainly habit Whether that’s the case against Duke, who have several first-round NBA Draft prospects on the roster, I think coach Eric Musselman and his team can cover right here against a Blue Devils team that seems to be hitting its fair stride. on time. Pick: Arkansas +3.5
