Yoga classes

The Gateway Center for the Arts will host Vinyas Flow yoga classes at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 880 NUS 17/92, DeBary.

Tuesdays are Vinyasa Flow A flow of movements using the breath to connect to the body. Build strength and stability, detoxify the body.

Thursdays are Gentle Vinyasa Flow targeting slow and gentle movements, breathwork and flexibility.

Daily mile in Deltona

Deltona Parks & Recreation will offer the free Daily Mile at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in March and April.

Walk at least a mile with the staff of Deltona Parks & Recreation on the Wes Crile Park Walking Path, 1537 Norbert Terrace.

Medical experts suggest that just one brisk walk a day helps maintain a healthy weight and prevents many adverse medical conditions.

Senior Fitness Classes

A fitness class for seniors will meet at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Ponce Inlet Community Center, 4670 S. Peninsula Drive.

The class will focus on cardio, strength and balance. Hand-held weights, resistance bands and a ball will be used. All equipment provided. Participants must bring a bottle of water.

New chair yoga classes in the Shores

Chair yoga classes are offered from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Daytona Beach Shores Community Center at 3000 Bellemead Drive.

The class is for those who will practice seated and standing poses using a chair as a support to help improve balance, posture, energy, breathing, strength, flexibility and relaxation.

The center also offers gentle yoga classes from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays with floor and standing poses. Yoga classes are taught by Mardi Williams, certified yoga teacher.

The cost is $8. Daytona Beach Shores residency and membership is not required.

Senior Fitness Classes

Synergy Senior Fitness Classes with Senior Fitness Specialist Artie Gardella will meet at noon on Fridays at First Baptist Church of Port Orange at 316 Church St.

No pre-registration, just show up. All fitness insurance accepted or a donation.

Ormond Memorial Art Museum

Gentle Yoga with Live Music in the Garden with Kim Latford and Rick of Yampert will meet from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 9 at 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach.

No experience is necessary and anyone over the age of 16 is eligible. Carpet space will be provided. Participants must bring a yoga mat. For those practicing chair yoga, seating will be provided.

Space is limited. The cost is $21 for members and $23 for non-members.

Daytona Beach Pools

City of Daytona Beach offers pool access at Campbell Aquatic Center, 400 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., and Cypress Aquatic Center, 981 George W. Engram Blvd.

Cypress has swimming hours starting at noon. at 8 p.m. Monday to Saturday. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for ages 17 and under.

Campbell has swimming hours from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is $1.

Nova Community Center

The Nova Community Center is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at 440 N. Nova Road, Ormond Beach.

Pickleball and basketball are offered Monday through Saturday. Basketball is played on Sunday.

Reservations are required. Cost is free for residents or $4 per day for annual membership for non-residents.

South Ormond Neighborhood Center

The South Ormond Neighborhood Center is open 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at 176 Division Ave., Ormond Beach.

The center has baseball fields, outdoor tennis courts and basketball courts.

Ormond Beach Tennis Center

The Ormond Beach Tennis Center is open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday through Sunday at 38 E. Granada Blvd.

It offers games for members and non-members, as well as classes seven days a week.

YSG Community Center Activities

Kung fu and tai chi classes are offered 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Yvonne Scarlett-Golden Cultural and Educational Center, 1000 Vine St., Daytona Beach. The fee is $40 per month.

The gymnasium open to Daytona Beach residents to play basketball is 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the center.

Yoga in the gallery

Yoga in the Gallery will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

Meet in the lobby. The class is open to all levels of experience. Participants should bring a mat, towel and water. Places are limited and registration is compulsory. Admission is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.

The Hub on Canal

The Hub on Canal offers fitness classes at 132 Canal St., New Smyrna Beach.

A gentle yoga class with Becky Collins will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Beginners are welcome. Suitable for ages 10 and up. Limited to 11 students.
