DePaul Athletics partners with Laureus USA's Sport for Good Chicago

CHICAGO — DePaul Athletics has launched a partnership with Laureus USA to become a member of Sport for Good Chicago, a coalition of more than 80 local organizations working to improve access and equity in youth sports across the city. Member organizations work together by aligning on outreach initiatives, building collaborative partnerships and improving access to high quality youth development training for coaches. DePaul Athletics will be the first collegiate athletics department in Chicago to join the coalition, alongside notable partners such as Girls in the Game, Chicago Run and XS Tennis.

To kick off the partnership, Laureus USA and DePaul University are working with the Center for Healing and Justice Through Sport (CHJS) to offer a series of trainings open to all Sport for Good Chicago members, including all DePaul Athletics coaches. .

The first practice will take place April 19 at the Sullivan Athletic Center in Lincoln Park and will focus on how sports can help athletes heal from trauma and stressful events. The training will be tailored to coaches working with collegiate or elite athletes.
