This is your chance to enjoy a spa experience right in the heart of New York. The program begins with a 90-minute Level X diagnostic assessment. It sounds serious because it is. This assessment includes an in-depth physical and behavioral questionnaire that is completed prior to your arrival. The results provide your trainer with information about your current lifestyle and fitness routine. Your coach will then determine your baseline health with data collected through a series of screens including body composition, movement and mobility, postural analysis and metabolic rate measurement. Your coach will then create a unique set of health and fitness recommendations that you will begin during your stay and hopefully continue when you return home.
Typically, a few workouts will be scheduled to help you jump straight into your new fitness goals. In addition to traditional strength training, you can also try a personalized pilates session or a yoga class. The 60,000 square foot gym is expansive and stocked with all the best workout equipment and has river views. So even after your workout is over, you can join a class or swim a few lengths in the indoor or outdoor pool.
Peak physical fitness also requires a trip to the hotel’s luxurious spa. You can still enjoy a targeted massage. However, your coach is there to help you navigate an ever-changing series of advanced treatments. One of Equinox’s innovative treatment options is The X Circuit. Here you can experience five therapies that target different parts of the mind and body: Beauty (facials or body optimization), Performance Healing (massage or physiotherapy), Temperature (cryotherapy or infrared sauna), Inner Body (menu superfoods or a NutriDrip) and Sleep (one session on the wavetable). Your stay will end with a review session of the roadmap with your coach in order to maintain a good mood.
Nutrition is an important part of your health and the Equinox Hotel is committed to providing meals that are both healthy and fun and no one will stop you from ordering dessert. The brunch includes cold-pressed juices, a bowl of chia seeds and avocado toast, but also flaxseed pancakes and a very tasty burger. Dinner includes local vegetables, but also oysters, East Coast halibut with grilled buckwheat, and filet mignon with heirloom tomato salad. For dessert, you can enjoy a crispy honey tart or a gourmet carrot cake. Your mini bar can call you late at night, where you’ll find everything you need to make a cocktail, plus some of the healthiest snacks around, like kelp jerky, vegan almond, bites of quinoa and the juice.
