Buccio Baby Shop – by now you know it as a place to find beautiful, useful mama & baby essentials and accessories. We’ve got the two monkeys in our logo and have a baby subscription box. But we are more than just a pretty shop.
There is more to the story than just a pretty shop.
There is me, my boys and my heart for mama’s.
And just like all of you I have a story – it’s a long story but I will try to just share the general gist of it in this post and save the rest for another time.
I knew as a new mom who constantly struggled with depression and anxiety, I needed a community – a community of other moms. Moms who were right there in the trenches with me and some who had already been through the trenches and now were in new trenches (older kids – ah! I don’t even want to think that far ahead!).
I searched, and I tried several different places and groups. But I finally and thankfully found a community and a group. I found my solid core of mama’s in both a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group and in a bible study at my church. These ladies will forever hold a piece of my heart and I will forever be grateful for them. They got me through some pretty dark times and even though we have moved pretty far away from them, I know most of them will always be there for me. They were/are there for me through my struggle with anxiety and depression and they were there for me when we unexpectantly got pregnant again only 8 months after our first was born.
I don’t know if I would have gotten through those dark days of learning how to manage my depression and my anxiety if I didn’t have community. Because of that I want to create that community for ANY mama who needs it, wants it and is searching for it. I know what it’s like to be alone, feel alone and feel like nobody understands. I want to encourage you, inspire you, pray for you and love you. I want you to know that you are not alone, that there is a place where there is no judgment.
But how does that tie into baby essentials?
When I was pregnant with my first I got laid off from my job and since I was planning on staying home after he was born, there was no point in me finding another job. So I broke out my sewing machine and started creating all the custom baby essentials and accessories I wanted. I had a unique style and I couldn’t find anything that wasn’t so bright and plastic and mass produced. My mom is a seamstress and makes beautiful quilts and made both of my babies bedding so she got me started with basics and I ran with it.
Well, in order for me to not concentrate on my anxiety and my depression I needed something to keep me busy – plus I wanted all these custom pieces as my baby grew and then another baby came. I was continually coming up with new ideas and new products and my friends were starting to put in their custom orders. Custom orders turned into a couple local craft fairs which turn into an etsy shop which turned into my own website.
I hope to use my shop and products as a way to supply mama’s with stylish, custom products that were designed by a mama who has a one time found a need for all these products. Through my shop I hope to show love, encouragement and inspiration to all who pass through and community to all who choose to stick around.
I don’t just want to be the cute baby shop to you
I want to get to know you! I want to be your community. I want to stand beside you in motherhood cheering each other on. I want to create a space where ALL mama’s are welcome, crunchy mama’s, silky mama’s and everyone in between. I want a place that is judgement free and open to all questions because I know somethings that we feel should be a “no brainer” in motherhood, tend to leave us boggled. Some of us were raised to be mothers. Some of us didn’t have a mother or a mother figure. Some of us motherhood comes naturally, some of us it’s quite the opposite and we are left clueless most days as to what to do with these tiny humans. We are all different, we all have different stories, we all have issues and a mess in some part of our lives, but one thing we all have in common is motherhood. We are raising tiny humans. We are in charge of raising successful, constructive members of society. We are gonna take different paths on how we get there – but one thing we all do is love them with all our might. So let us stand together, love each other, support each other, encourage one another.
